Kirin Subspecies

The Kirin Subspecies is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter 4. It is known to inhabit the Unknown Great Forest and the Top of the Tower. Kirin Subspecies can only be fought past HR100.

Physiology

Unlike the ordinary Kirin, this subspecies' body is mainly a dark navy blue, with violet stripes throughout. Its mane is black with light purple tips and its eyes are a luminous red. In addition, its horn is larger, has pink-ish color and features a spiraling ridge from base to tip. 

Abilities

Kirin Subspecies is able to summon ice shards to defend itself rather than the lighting strikes employed by its standard cousin. 

Behaviour

It is as aggressive as the normal Kirin.

Habitat

Kirin Subspecies can only be fought in the Unknown Great Forest or Tower Top.

Notes

• Its hide becomes much tougher during rage mode and require ESP to cut through it.
• Touching its ice block still cause minor damage and iceblight status to the hunter.
